Professor Mimi Zweig, professor of violin and violin pedagogy of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music was recognized as the 2011 IMTA Teacher of the Year at the IMTA State Conference held in the Fall of 2011. Mimi is the founding director of the Indiana University String Academy, one of the foremost pre-college programs in the United States. Since 1978, the String Academy has served hundreds of children each year, ages 5-18, who wish to study violin and cello. Mimi's visionary curriculum includes private and group lessons, theory and master classes, chamber music, and performance opportunities. Instruction is based on the methods and philosophies of Zweig, Suzuki and Rolland. During the academic year, String Academy students present over 45 community concerts in Bloomington, Indiana.
Indiana is proud to honor this acclaimed violinist and pedagogue. Congratulations, Mimi!
